Hello everyone!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Sarah, and I am an avid crocheter. I originally learned to crochet when I was younger, but it didn't really stick. However, I picked it back up in college, and I haven't stopped since!
Once I had made pretty much anything my friends and family could want in the crochet world, I needed a new outlet for all of the things I still wanted to make. I started looking for charities that would accept crochet items to help those in need. I originally sent items to a knit and crochet group in middle Tennessee, but after I moved I started looking for more places I could donate too. During my search I found Warm Up America, and their amazing Facebook Makers group. This group was my first experience interacting with others in the knit and crochet community and it was just what I needed. That group is also the first place I shared the beginnings of the ideas for this blog, and I am so grateful for their support. Crocheting for charity has become a big part of what I do, especially outside of the holiday season. It is my way of giving back to those in need and hopefully, helping make the world a slightly better (and warmer) place.
Soon after joining that group, I decided I should start a crochet centered Instagram page, and I found even more amazing members of the fiber arts community. I am astounded everyday by the creativity and talent of everyone out there crocheting, knitting and yarn dyeing. They have inspired me more than I could have ever imagined. Through Instagram, I have connected with other designers and have had the opportunity to test some amazing patterns for them. This includes my first ever crochet garment that I am wearing in the picture above. (It is the Nomad Ruana from Stacie at Baahumble Crafts, and I love it.) I love the pattern testing process so much that one of my big goals for 2020 is to test even more patterns. Hopefully, I will be able to share past and future tests with you, here on the blog.

Great Blog Sarah, I am from the WUA makers on fb, do you have a pattern for the sweater you are wearing on this page?
ReplyDeleteYes, it was my first pattern test! It is the Nomad Ruana from BaaHumble Crafts. You can purchase it on Etsy or Ravelry.
