And the winner is...
I asked the wonderful people of the WUA Makers Group on Facebook which stitch I should do next, and the winner was the Herringbone Stitch! Also this week, I only used the colors for the Sweet Tooth Hotel Campaign and I managed to get one of each color made again. (I also have all fours colors done for next week already, and I feel so productive!) Look at how much the stack of sections as grown these last four weeks!
Let's get to it! Make sure you have checked out the original section-a-long post, if you haven't already for the list of supplies you will need, and if you missed it, check out the first, second, and third patterns already on the blog.

Herringbone Stitch
If you can do a double crochet stitch, you can do the Herringbone stitch. This new stitch just takes one simple switch in how you pull through the loops when compared to the standard double crochet. It is a great stitch for when you get tired of double crochet, or want to switch up the look of a section without really having to rethink the counts or anything like that. If you know how many double crochet stitches it takes to make 7 inches, that is how many you need for the Herringbone pattern.
We are returning to Daisy Farm Crafts this week for the stitch tutorial. They have so many good ones and they are a great resource if you are looking for fun stitches or baby blanket patterns!Or if you would like a video tutorial, I would found this one for you on Youtube!

Section Pattern
Supplies:
- Worsted weight yarn (approx 24-27 grams, which is less than 1 ounce, but not by much). I used Red Heart Super Saver (Tea Leaf), I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby (Fire Red), and Mainstays Basic yarn (Gold and Teal).
- Crochet Hook. I use a 6mm but a 5mm or 5.5mm would work as well. Just check the width and length measurements as you go.
- Measuring Device! See the main post for details.
- Tapestry needle to weave in the ends
- Scissors
Pattern Notes: I chain 1 for the turning chain but do not count it as a stitch. You can treat the turning chain however you like, just be consistent throughout the section.
Check out my adorable helper from the photo shoot.
Pattern:
- Row 1: 21 Foundation Double Crochet (or the number needed to have 7 inches)
- Row 2:Herringbone Double Crochet in each stitch across (21)
- Row 3-(?): Repeat row 2 (21)
- I used 20 to 21 rows for my sections. Make sure to measure your finished size!
- Fasten off and weave in the ends.
As a reminder, if you are sending in for the Sweet Tooth campaign, make sure the sections are in by March 18th! And don't worry, once the art piece is done all sections will be made into blankets and donated to those in need!
Warm Up America also does a live unboxing every Tuesday at noon (central) on their Facebook page. If you are available and interested, it is a great chance to see what all the volunteers have been sending in and to get updates on various campaigns. On a super fun note: this blog and the section-a-long got mentioned during the live last week and I was all but dancing in my office!!
Again, major thanks for joining me for this section-a-long. Since the sections are already ready for next week, Section #5 is coming next Monday, February 3rd (the day before my birthday!)!
The blog also has a subscribe function enabled so you won't miss a post!
