Happy to be back
I took the week off from blog posting last week to celebrate my birthday and play with all the puppies. For context, my boyfriend's parents had a litter of Wheaten Terriers just before New Year's Eve and we went to visit last weekend. Can I just say that playing with six 6-week old puppies is a pretty great way to celebrate turning 27!
Make sure you have checked out the original section-a-long post, if you haven't already for the list of supplies you will need, and if you missed it, check out the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth patterns already on the blog. The original post also has links to all the sections!

I learned a new stitch for this one...
Several weeks ago, I put a poll up on the WUA Makers group and asked which of my patterns they wanted to see first. Much to my surprise, someone added an option that I was not prepared for. And this option got the second most votes! Because of this, I went out and learned the trinity stitch.
I used this tutorial from the Unraveled Mitten to learn the stitch, and I hope you find it as helpful as I did.
This stitch seemed to work up slower than many of the others, for me anyway. It also used a little more yarn. The green section ended up a little different which leaves me with the perfect chance to share another tip with you!

Tip:
Sometimes when you start working a section, you think it will be the right width, only to find out half way through that it is a little short! But don't worry, we have a way to deal with this. If you notice you are a little short on the sides, simply make sure your length is short by the same amount. Then, add a border all the way around. Most of the time I only need a border row of single crochet stitches, but I have had to add two border rows before. This is a handy way to test out stitches for the sections, but not have to start over if they turn out not the right size as you work.Section Pattern
Supplies:
- Worsted weight yarn (approx 31-38 grams). I used Red Heart Super Saver (Tea Leaf), I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby (Fire Red), and Mainstays Basic yarn (Gold and Teal).
- Crochet Hook. I use a 6mm but a 5mm or 5.5mm would work as well. Just check the width and length measurements as you go.
- Measuring Device! See the main post for details.
- Tapestry needle to weave in the ends
- Scissors
Pattern Notes: The turning chain does not count as a stitch.
Pattern:
- Row 1: Ch 30 (or an even number)
- Row 2: SC in the 2nd chain from the hook. *SC3tog starting in the same chain as the previous stitch and then the next 2 stitches. Ch 1*. Continue across. SC in the same space as the previous stitch.
- The linked tutorial as photos to help you out with the stitch too!
- There isn't a chain between the last sc3tog and the sc.
- Row 3: Ch 1, Turn. SC in the first stitch. SC3tog starting in the same stitch as the sc and then continuing in the top of the next SC3tog and ch 1 space. Ch 1. *SC3tog starting in the same st last leg of previous SC3tog and then continuing in the top of the next SC3tog and ch 1 space, ch 1. Continue from * to * across. Sc in same st as last leg of previous SC3tog
- There isn't a chain between the last sc3tog and the sc.
- Row 4-(?): Repeat Row 3
- It took we approximately 30 rows for three of the sections (Remember the green one was different!)
- Fasten off and weave in the ends.
As a reminder, if you are sending in for the Sweet Tooth campaign, make sure the sections are in by March 18th! And don't worry, once the art piece is done all sections will be made into blankets and donated to those in need!
I have boxed up all my sections to send off. I took all the pictures and notes I needed for the next 3 weeks worth of section-a-long patterns, and I can't to share them all with you. My total for this collection is 26 sections. The last of the collection was only made in two colors, because I didn't have enough yarn left in the other 2 colors!
Be sure to come back next Monday for pattern #7!
